MARIE CUBITT- Principal

F.I.S.T.D Hons RAD. DIST. RTS. A.T.O.D. Progressing Ballet Technique Certified.

Marie started her love affair with dancing in the church hall of the small village of Broomfield in England in 1952. By the age of sixteen she had progressed to taking lessons in the Cecchetti method of ballet with Madame Helen Wolska in Baker Street, London. She gained her advanced level and started teaching at the Sally Cubitt dancing school in Chelmsford.
In 1971 she emigrated to Australia and became head teacher for Valrene Tweedie at the Australian Academy of Ballet in Sydney. Whilst teaching there she studied under Miss Tweedie to become a fellow of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, which she obtained with Honours in 1975. Marie became an examiner in the Cecchetti method and also trained teachers to obtain their own qualifications.
In 1989 Marie relocated to Molong with her family and started teaching, she then opened Cubitt School of Dancing, with daughter Lindsay Punch, in 1992. From small beginnings, the school progressed to being the premier producer of professional dancers in the Central West, with dancers being accepted into The Australian Ballet Company, Waapa, McDonald College, and The Australian Ballet ITP program to name a few. During this time Marie also became qualified through Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD), making her one of the widest qualified teachers of classical ballet in the region.
At 72, Marie continues to teach ballet at CWPA with the panache and vigour of someone half her age. She exemplifies the benefits of continued study and training and revels in passing on her knowledge to her students. With over 50 years experience Marie is extremely proud of her family run school and continues to deliver the best safe and technical training to help her students reach their full potential.
"The families and students I have taught over my 50 years in the dance industry have become part of my family and my life. Having the chance to share my skills, passion and dedication to dance with my students is an honour. Watching them grow and become confident and strong adults entering the world to achieve their dreams is one of my greatest joys."

JAMIE KAYE- Principal

M.F.A.T.D. Dist I.M.E.B. PERF. DIST. Progressing Ballet Technique Certified. Cert IV Fitness.

Jamie started her performing arts journey when she was just 18 months old. Under the guidance of her mother, Lindsay Punch, and grandmother, Marie Cubitt, Jamie's passion for performing arts flourished. Jamie loved doing workshops and competing at eisteddfods throughout New South Wales, winning multiple scholarships and accolades both in dancing and drama. Whilst studying in Orange Jamie completed her Advanced 2 RAD and Cecchetti Intermediate receiving distinction in both. She has also completed all tap exams through LGTDA and jazz exams through ADA, always receiving Honours Plus.

At 16 Jamie was accepted into Queensland Dance School Of Excellence to study full-time classical ballet. After a short stint in Queensland Jamie realised she wanted to be closer to home and relocated to Sydney to study full-time at Brent Street Performing Arts. Jamie was then awarded a scholarship through Cecchetti to study in England for 3 months, this allowed Jamie to experience some of the best contemporary companies in the world and also take class from the industries best at Pineapple Dance. Whilst living away Jamie realised that her hometown of Orange, with her family, was where she wanted to be and she returned home at 18 to share her knowledge, passion and skills.

Back at home Jamie completed her teaching qualifications through ADA and IMEB and she continues to study and progress herself as a teacher. Choreography is a passion of Jamie's and her work has received praise from many well-known industry professionals as well being nominated for CAT awards for her choreography through Orange Theatre Company.

Jamie's passion and dedication shines through every student, she takes pride in producing a well-rounded dancer who excels at every genre and encourages her students to take every opportunity they are given to build their confidence and develop their skills in performing.

"My favourite part of this job is that it doesn't feel like a job at all. I love connecting with my students and they truly do become family"

LINDSAY PUNCH

She has since become a qualified pre-school teacher holding a position at KWS Pre-Prep although she continues to teach almost every afternoon.
Lindsay has continued to develop her professional expertise and regularly attends courses to ensure her students are offered the best possible tuition to reach their maximum potential.
